A transitional film, where the Jackie Chan Kung-fu comedy is nascent, but not fully developed. Not gonna lie, I was a bit worried that rewatching this in 2020 might have changed my opinion on it being a favourite of mine but I still stand by it! In this film Chan appears restricted despite being more fully featured. I also love how well Lo Wei's direction complements Chan's style, employing these odd fisheye lens angles in the middle of action to exaggerate the almost inhuman movement.
